Privacy Policy
PayPace (“we”, “the app”) is a payday-to-payday budgeting app. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and how you can control it.
1. Summary
- Budget data on your device stays on your device by default.
- Optional features may send limited data to third-party services you choose to use (receipt photo scan, statement photo scan, shared budget sync, in-app purchases).
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your content for advertising.
2. Data stored on your device
PayPace stores your budget settings, pay cycles, bills, expenses, category allocations, free-tier receipt scan count, and related preferences locally on your phone (for example via on-device storage). This data is used only to run the budgeting features you see in the app.
3. Camera and photos (receipt scan)
If you choose Photo receipt, the app asks for camera and/or photo library permission. Images are used only to extract expense line items (merchant, amounts, categories). You control when a photo is taken or selected.
The free plan includes a limited number of receipt scans. Unlimited scans are part of Plus. When a scan runs, the selected image (or a derived representation) is sent to OpenAI to parse the receipt. Do not photograph sensitive documents you do not want processed by that service. See OpenAI’s privacy policy.
4. Bank statement import (Plus)
If you import a bank export (for example CSV or PDF), the file is read on your device to create expense entries. We do not upload those exports to our own servers. PDF text is extracted in the app; unsupported formats are rejected rather than replaced with invented data.
If you import a photo of a statement, the image is sent to OpenAI (same path as receipt scan) to read merchants, amounts, and each transaction date. Prefer CSV/PDF when you can; do not photograph statement pages you do not want that service to process.
5. Shared budget (Plus only)
If you create or join a shared household budget with Plus, sync may use Supabase to store household membership, invite codes, and shared cycle / expense data so a partner device can stay in sync. Only participants you invite should have access to that shared budget.
See Supabase privacy for their processing terms.
6. Purchases (Plus)
Plus is offered as auto-renewable App Store subscriptions (monthly and yearly). Purchases and restores go through Apple’s App Store (StoreKit) on your device. Apple processes payment; we only learn whether Plus is unlocked for this Apple ID. We do not receive your full payment card details. Manage or cancel in Apple ID subscription settings.
7. Notifications
If you allow notifications, PayPace may show local alerts (for example when shared-budget metrics change on a linked household). Notification permission is optional and can be changed in system Settings.
8. Analytics and tracking
PayPace does not include a separate advertising or cross-app tracking SDK. If that changes, this page will be updated before those features ship.
9. Children
PayPace is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not use the app if you are under that age.
10. Your choices
- Deny camera/photos permissions — receipt scan will not work.
- Stay on Free — you can still use core budgeting and a limited number of receipt scans; Shared Budget, statement import, unlimited scans, and other Plus tools stay locked.
- Leave a shared household to stop partner sync for that budget.
- Delete the app to remove on-device PayPace storage on that device.
- Manage or cancel Plus subscriptions in Apple ID settings.
11. Data retention
On-device data remains until you delete it in-app (where available) or remove the app. Shared-budget server data persists while the household exists and according to the backend project configuration. Receipt images sent to OpenAI are processed under OpenAI’s retention practices.
12. Contact
Questions about privacy: Support or email iuliana.iagodka@gmail.com.
13. Changes
We may update this policy when the app’s data practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
